The idea behind the Football Festival® Denmark tournament structure is to offer all participating teams as many competitive matches as possible. That is why the tournament is divided into preliminary rounds, a qualification round and a playoffs. The structure of the tournament is unique and is not seen similar at other major international youth football tournaments.
All teams are divided into groups of 4 teams - in some cases groups of 5 teams - and all teams play against each other. The top two teams move on to qualification round A, while the 2 (or 3) other lower placed teams move on to qualification round B.
In the qualification round, the teams are once again split into groups of 4 teams - in some cases groups of 5 teams.
Note that only in classes containing 16 or more teams, a B-final is played. However in classes with no B-final played, we will still establish a structure that will secure as many matches as possible.
In some classes - amongst them the elite classes - another tournament structure may be employed.
